The site has been redesigned to be a bit easier to navigate. It was getting confusing, so this helps me. Hopefully it helps you too.
We’ve had a very social Saturday! Tim, Dad and Mom helped out with groceries and necessary bills (thank you life savers!!!). We picked up a delicious breakfast casserole and cake Mom made, Jon Doyle was at our house when we returned home with Blue Moon in tow, Dad came over shortly after. We all laughed a long time and told funny stories, as the boys played video games. Later Jacob Hughes came by and visited for awhile. Brad called and said he’ll be by in a bit as well. It has been a cheery place all day long.
It’s good to laugh and enjoy the visitors! Kevin put a roast in the crock pot, so we’ve been snacking all day.
Do we know more from the PET scan?
Several people have asked whether we know more after Kevin’s PET scan Thursday. The scan was completed Thursday and the records are ready to be picked up for the visit with the oncologist (Dr. Mo) this coming Tuesday. Kevin and I seemed to have silently agreed to cross that bridge when we come to it. Last time we downloaded the software and took an early look for ourselves before the visit, but I think we want a holiday from cancer for a few days. We need to recharge.
Kara and Jordan will be up for a visit next week, which will be wonderful. Their new home is only about 4 hours away. Kara, who is still serving in the military in MT will move there in July. I’m very excited to have them over – they will be great for Kevin, especially after what I expect will be a challenging day with the oncologist. We are so fortunate to have so many devoted, strong and helpful kids, and family all around us!
On the Job Front
It’s looking more likely that the shop cannot be sustainable during this time and will have to close. This is a tough decision, since it means Kevin will not be able to do the beautiful work he does so well. We are gearing down in many ways to prepare for this time for dealing with his health and treatments. He’s also quite a bit more exhausted than a couple of weeks ago, so it’s better at this point to have him help out with overflow work from my freelance accounts where he can remain seated. It’s also nice to stay indoors in this cruddy, cold Iowa weather! Kevin is amazingly smart and learned the software IN A DAY! (Some people can’t figure it out in months, even with classes). He should have been doing this for years!
Kevin said, “So let me get this straight – I can start a fire, sit in my easy chair, sip a beer and work on web sites all day? I’m in!” I laughed until I realized I need coffee to do my job. He will probably outperform me in a short time!
I interviewed for a marketing manager position after his PET scan. If I’m lucky enough to get this position, I hope to delegate my freelance work to Kevin.
Today, we’re just happy to relax, eat some great food and visit with family and friends! Thanks for coming by everyone!
